Interactive and
Safe Space
Grade 9 Drama is a fun and interactive course that introduces the basic foundations of Drama and theatre. It is a safe and communal space that encourages students to be creative and to develop performance,
collaboration and communication skills. Drama class is a place where you can try new things and move around while playing games and having fun!
Units of Study
Students study dramatic conventions such as tableau, movement, voice, character development, improvisation, playwrighting, analysis, reflection, scene work and collective creations. The course focuses on group-based activities and performances. We work together to create theatre and live in the moment. You need to take an Arts credit and Grade 9 Drama is the place for you!
Drama Skills are
Life Skills
Drama can help to prepare students for their educational careers and beyond because they are developing presentation skills, working as a group, being challenged to take risks and reflect on their processes. The skills and confidence that you gain in Drama class are transferrable to every aspect of your life. Taking Drama will help you to feel more comfortable entering Grade 9!
